Minooka School District, Minooka; Minooka’s first schoolhouse was built before 1871 on Mondamin Street. This building burned in the second great fire of 1887. The next school was built on the site of the current Junior High School. This was a two story, wooden building. It was replaced in 1925 by the present two story section of the Junior High. The “new” brick school served as both grade and high school until 1961 when the new grade school was built. The new high school was built in 1971.1

In 1968 1969 I went to Lincoln School in Morris Illinois. The school building was sold and turned into a residence.

At the time the school was used for first and second grade.

    Does anyone know the address?

I do not see Saltmarsh School on Gardner Road on your list. It was located at the intersection of Gardner and Holm Roads in Goodfarm Township. I would be interested in any information about Saltmarsh School. Thank you.

Pine Bluff Grade School was NOT located in Coal City area. I graduated from Pine Bluff and went to Morris Community High School. Pine Bluff was located southeast of Morris–going south on Rte. 47, turn east at first opportunity–Pine Bluff Road–and continue east for a short distance — past what used to be called “Collins’ Woods”. The school was on the north side of the road. When Pine Bluff Grade School was closed (early 1960s?), students were transitioned into the Morris Elementary system and all attended Morris Community High School.

Thanks Linda for catching that. I’ve updated the page.

No problem. I have a lot of information on how the Goodfarm Cemetary was started & dates for Aliela Pfeifer’s passing. I will get it together & send to you as a PDF, if that works for you. I have a lot of the Pfeifer history.

Awesome Linda! I just sent you an email so that you have my address.
