Slugging Match – August 17, 1885

Braidwood, Ill., Aug 17.

A slugging match took place five miles east of here at daylight this morning between Adam Patterson, a saloon keeper, and George Mulvey, a miner, both from Braceville, for a purse of $500. Mulvey knocked Patterson out after one hundred and thirty-eight rounds.
