Herbert Edward Clayton

Herbert Edward Clayton (Mayor, two terms, elected April 16, 1929 and April 21, 1931): Photo 1: in his Army uniform after his return from WWI in 1919 Photo 2: posing with a machine gun in Camp Sherman, Ohio where the unit underwent training prior to shipping overseas. These photos were sent to my great-grandmother, Mary Emma (Clayton) Werner (his sister), the wife of Herbert Werner. Herbert Edward Clayton served in Battery A, 322nd Field Artillery Regiment. His vital statistics are as follows: Born: 7 July 1895 on the Frank Hall Farm in Braceville Township; Married: 5 June 1920 to Evelyn Benson; Died: 14 July 1934 in Silver Cross Hospital, Joliet; Buried: 17 July 1934 in Morris Evergreen Cemetery.
