Thomas J. Stinchcomb

Thomas J. Stinchcomb was born October 29, 1837 in Morgan County, Ohio, as stated on his application. He enlisted at Shanesville, OH, in Company G of the 51st Ohio Infantry as a Corporal on September 19, 1861. He was discharged at the close of the war on October 3, 1865, at Victoria, TX. On January 13, 1912, he applied for admission to the Illinois Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Quincy, IL. His admission paperwork states he was a resident of Morris, Grundy County, IL. He was not married, had two children, ages 35 and 40. John E. Stinchcomb of Morris is listed as his son to receive notification in the event of his death. Old age was listed as his disability for admission. He was admitted January 13, 1912, registered number 9721, cottage number 8. He received a pension under certificate # 1122188, $15.00/month. Thomas Stinchcomb died on February 28, 1912, and is buried in Sunset Cemetery at the Home.
